Reneging on refunds
I think there is no either/or regarding ethical behavior and the law. When in law school, did Ms. Carmen Brock skip the course on law and ethics? A refresher course on ethical values, on wrong and right is a sine qua non for a person who is presently San Diego City Attorney. Furthermore, it's humiliating to be treated as you have treated us, the residents of Golden Hill and South Park. Regarding Mr. Todd Gloria, well, what's new, no? Remember whom to vote next election. And, Mr. Hardgrove, thank you for keeping us, the "duped" public, informed, even when there is nothing we can do about it.— December 4, 2012 9:15 a.m.
Watchdog group questions the legality of maintenance assessment districts in a new lawsuit against the City of San Diego
The new lawsuit against the City of San Diego questioning the legality of maintenance assessment districts is not only a matter of fighting to preserve the fairness of California's Proposition 26, but it is also a matter of not being ripped off so that a bunch of pals can distribute among themselves contracts for their own benefit, and keep themselves doing their private deals -- deals that have nothing to do with improving our shared community spaces but that are being made with OUR money. GGHMA was a shameful case in point. May I suggest that the City Attorney's office, instead of spending lots of money defending the opaque-private interests of a few individuals (aka corporations), employ the money (and efforts) on meaningful community activities such as having music, singers, dancers and/or performers in our beautiful public parks?— September 30, 2012 11:49 a.m.
City Issues Partial Refunds To Residents in Greater Golden Hill
The Statute of Limitations should be tolled, given the pending litigation. The city should not be able to use its own wrongdoings -- for which it was sued -- to get out of paying claims it owes. Of course, we are talking about the law, something it seems the city officials and "our" representatives don't care about because, we, citizens, are disposable (i.e., powerless). More proof that this is the case? Here it goes: While we were filling out our really complicated forms to be reimbursed for all the years (yes, including 2007-2008) MAD was illegally taking our money, "our" representatives were already planning on cheating us. Disgusting.— August 6, 2012 2:44 p.m.
Marco Li Mandri wants to get around Prop 13
Well, well well, the benefits that maintenance assessment districts offer are zero, if not look at the rightly dissolved MAD (Hey! where is our money?). People like Li Mandri and many like him exist thanks to are great representatives. So, my advice is, be careful for whom you vote in the coming elections.— April 25, 2012 2:43 p.m.
City Council Expected to Dissolve Golden Hill Maintenance Assessment District
I don't think the community has been divided by what a bunch of opportunists have done to our community since 2007. And, yes, it's funny. In the last meeting we had with these GGHMAD opportunists (when it was dissolved) some of the speakers began talking about "healing." Healing for what? What we wanted was to stop these people from taking our money illegally and without any accountability whatsoever. Period. I still remember "that " meeting (in 2007) with council members at Brooklyn School with Mr. Hueso presiding (Ms. Atkins was conspicuously absent) and we, the residents of this community, trying to speak and being totally dismissed, even threatened by the body language and attitudes of some people standing around us that I suppose were the hired guns working for MAD. We don't want "healing": we want to be respected and we want that a corporation never again take our money illegally to be used at their whim. That's all. Again, thank you Mr. Hargrove for keeping us posted.— April 7, 2012 9:53 a.m.
Will Golden Hill Residents Have to Pay for Their Now-Defunct Maintenance Assessment District?
GHH, you couldn't have said it better! When we'll have to vote remember whom to choose as our representatives.— March 18, 2012 5:53 a.m.
Will Golden Hill Residents Have to Pay for Their Now-Defunct Maintenance Assessment District?
Once again, thank you Mr. Hargrove for keeping us, the members of this community informed. Indeed, we have been treated as if we were living in the Middle Ages, "ruled" by a bunch of "lords" (the lords in this case were no others than the people working for the MAD CO., who wanted to make quick money from the "serfs", that is us, property owners in Golden Hill and South Park). That the City Council have delayed the vote to end MAD is certainly "bad timing" for us, the residents but, perhaps, it's a very good timing for the MAD.CO, so they can keep spending our money, no?— March 17, 2012 3:15 p.m.
Judgment Finalized In Legal Battle Over Golden Hill Maintenance Assessment District
KUDOS to the Golden Hill Neighborhood Association for having fought for all of us the residents of this great community. Hopefully, this time, the bullies of the Golden Hill Community Development Corporation will understand that "the judgment was final." Please pack and bon voyage. Justice has been done.— February 10, 2012 8:45 a.m.
The After-MAD in Golden Hill
Generally, there are "two sides" of an issue, so there always will be some pro and and some cons. However, it's not so clear there were two sides regarding MAD since it was "created " by fiat, not by a fair democratic process. So, from the very beginning MAD was illegal (therefore, it was not my view vs your view, it was illegal, period). And, as such, we got all the further problems derived from the mismanagement of such an illegal entity. There is no need of "healing" any community, since there was just one wrong and the Court had redressed it, so it was just a happy ending for all of us, that is , for our community as whole. And, we hope there will be no more MADs in our community, please!!! We just got rid of one and are we heading toward planning for another one? Ouch!— October 21, 2011 7:56 p.m.
Mad About Getting Rid of MAD
BlueSouthPark, cheers!~ Yes! Filner and taxes will protect us from incompetent people. Thank you for your comments.— October 6, 2011 2:06 p.m.
