neighborhoods/clairemont -- Clairemont
BULLYING IS ALIVE AND WELL IN CLAIREMONT I live across the street from Field Elementary located on Bannock avenue. My next door neighbors informed me that their 10 year old daughter has been victimized by the same classmates over the past few years. Whenever they attempt to bring this to the attention of the school administration they have encountered a dead end. The situation has gotten so out of control that their daughter has become emotionally distraught. She is presently receiving psychological counseling. A meeting was recently held between the parents and Ms. Yesinia Robinson, school principal. Their objective was to get some type of assurance that this "Zero Tolerance" offense will finally be resolved. Incidentally, the same offenders have always met with little or no punishment for their behavior. In fact, it was suggested by the victim's present teacher that work, for the remaining number of days of days left on the school calendar, could be sent home; so that the young girl wouldn't have to come to school. Again, no consequences have been presented to the perpetrators. At this last meeting the principal offered the following advice to the parents (paraphrasing), their daughter needs to develop a tough skin. Apparently, resolution of this offensive action can once again be swept under the rug.— June 2, 2013 11:03 a.m.
