Growing Old Gracefully?

As a younger woman, this makes me fear aging. Does time on this earth not erase the pressure of vanity we experience first at 13? Do years not add wisdom to the fight we wage with insecurity. My brain begs me to remember all the wonderful things about aging. And I remember, and then I once again lull myself into enjoying my 20's. Breaking my own back to look good naked, spending over a hundred dollars on my hair, endlessly searching for clothes that flatter me perfectly and keep up with the times. But in my short twenty two years, its not my casing that makes me wonderful. Its my casing that gives me the opportunity to speak to people. To engage in wonderful social banter, and exchange. Once I spread my lips to playful exchange words people stop looking at my case. They're fascinated to see whats inside, behind my eyes. If theyre stuck on my long legs, my blue eyes, my perfect died and fixed hair, I know it. They have nothing to say, they have nothing to give. They than become worthless, idiots lost to the wave of culture. and I pity them. I am more then my shell, and I wish that you too can see that you are beautiful on the outside because you have something to give on the inside. Beauty is not symmetry, beauty is not beholden to stereotypes, it is a radiance that beams when you are happy, when you are confident, and when you are secure. Just be you, remember who you are, and share it. Don't fear acceptance, use it. My two cents.... lo siento

Life in Tijuana under drug cartel violence

Im shocked and appalled. Did these events the story reported on happen. They are very trackable stories, shootings in walmart parking lots, escorting children in and out of school. People fearing the night time. I MEAN COME ON! I dont know if this is all true. Im a new resident. But I work in a Mexican Restaurant and they travel through TJ into places like Ensenada and farther quite often, if not every week. They're more cautious if anything. Thats my two cents about what I PERSONALLY know In terms of this story. Is there absurd violence? Is their senseless slaughtering rather than calculated war? Has the Red Cross truly declared it a war zone? Lets talk facts her children, before we go calling one another names. We are obviously the few people who care about truth and legitimacy. Lets go find the answers not call others out for not providing them. The truth lies in that the drug wars are getting more out of hand. Its obviously a sign of the global recession. People are becoming more desperate. Mexico is in a terribly scary place because their history of Patronismo is changing. Their story is changing as a nation. It may return to the previous president's methods. It may change forever. We now as Americans, as bordertown residents, we need to be informed and sensible. Violence is violence is violence. We must keep it out of our neighborhoods and then controlled and then snuffed out. Its a complicated problem having blame on our shoulders and theirs. But we must recognize the reality. Not defend deny or lie. Lets find the truth and work towards the correct solution.... not verbally bashing one another... God, Im not even in my thirties and I sound older than the lot of you.
