That’s life, and life’s not easy
Wow, Curtis. What an amazing transformation. I'm inspired by your fortitude. I know it can't be easy out there. And your candid, self-reflective storytelling makes for a seriously compelling read. Nice work.— November 8, 2012 1:36 p.m.
Retro Rumble
Error: Smets was pregnant with her third child, not her first, when she stopped working as a hair stylist.— October 31, 2012 12:19 p.m.
Nothing Happens Gallery
This is utterly bizarre. And I might actually love it. Still not quite decided.— October 5, 2012 2:09 p.m.
Dumplings, Pot Stickers, and Buns Galore at Dumpling Inn
You know, I wondered about the byob thing. I'm so happy to know they're ok with it. Thanks for telling me!— June 7, 2012 2:56 p.m.
A Bummer of a Blended Coffee Drink
Will do! Influx is on my list of coffee shops to hit soon, anyway. Thanks for the tip!— June 2, 2012 2:54 p.m.
Afternoons at the Mission
Weekday afternoon is definitely the best time to enjoy the Mission. My favorite part of this place is that they will serve a side of their amazing french toast so you don't have to decide between salty and sweet.— June 1, 2012 5:55 p.m.
Babycakes' Breakfast
The red velvet pancakes are a cute idea. Looks like they might be a good "share" item, where you get that and an egg/bacon salty dish to share along with it. That tiny little piece of quiche looks scrumptious but naked on that big plate.— May 29, 2012 1:10 p.m.
Losing My Inhibitions at Muzita Abyssinian Bistro
Looks scrumptious, MBA. Say injera and my heart goes pitter patter. The best part is eating the injera that's beneath all that food. It's soaked with the flavors, messy and yum!— May 27, 2012 12:24 p.m.
This Crunchy PB&J Almost Works
Yeah. I think I'm a fairly adventurous girl, and I love sweet and salty, but I don't know about the pickles and peanut butter.— May 24, 2012 3:03 p.m.
If It's Not Illegal, It Should Be: Earthblend Tea & Coffee in Tierrasanta
I found it bizarre and baffling. In response to this post, someone sent me a document about the requirements via twitter. Turns out it's not illegal unless the place has over 20,000 square feet. But, there are also all kinds of rules for having public restrooms, one of which is that the passage to the restroom can't take the public through the food prep area. My guess is that it would have been a hassle and an expense to comply with all the rules. Easier to send folks to the Valero.— May 17, 2012 11:30 a.m.
