So many San Diegans carry guns
As a liberal and Obama supporter, I applaud the open carry people for their efforts to change the carry laws in California, and their careful adherence to the current laws. I have a concealed carry permit in Minnesota and do carry a handgun often. I only intend to use it as a last resort in self defense, and I'm glad that I'm able to carry a gun here. Other liberals need to understand that gun owners don't want to intimidate anyone by carrying our guns. On the contrary, we simply want to be able to defend ourselves if attacked. People who carry are generally very polite, too, since we can't risk being blamed for starting an altercation that could lead to a self defense shooting. I believe that an armed society is a peaceful one, as long as the people carrying are responsible.— July 22, 2009 5:18 a.m.
