The Philly Grill
Ok, I admit it...I struggle with food addiction. Thought I had it under control until The Philly Grill went and opened up in North Park and ruined my sobriety. Now thanks to them I’m seriously addicted to their philly sandwiches. And the super friendly owner, Suzanne, claims ZERO responsibility for her blatant enabling behavior, just becuz she’s got this big sign in her front window that says – WARNING:HABIT FORMING. Well, with all her ‘hauty tauty’ reviews plastered all over the window I couldn’t even see the damn sign! So it took like four days for me to punch up the ‘buy 10/get one free sandwich card’. On top of that, I was the first one to reach 10 and can you believe the phony baloney owner wouldn’t even put my lousy picture on the wall in recognition of my achievement!? So now I go in (usually shaking in need of my fix), sit down and scarf down my sandwich which is piled high with meat and peppers and melted cheese while I listen to the owner, Suzanne, ask me in her little girl voice “do I want a doggie bag?” knowing full well that I’m not going to leave a lousy crumb. So like I never write letters to magazines but I felt I needed to warn people about this place over at Alabama and University. Don’t be fooled just because the food tastes great, and it's friendly, fun and clean. Take it from me, it’s a dangerous place. Dan Vaci— October 9, 2008 10:02 a.m.
