Up a Mangrove Channel in Micronesia
Thanks for the good read. I concur, Kosrae is indeed a magical place. One small correction - the mother was a riverine eel. The only snakes in Micronesia are small, subterrean blind snakes. The eel was also the clan of the Togusrai (king, Ton clan), Lasialap clan here on Pohnpei where the river eel remains sacred to this day. Due to clan exogamy, the story may also be of an illicit relationship as clans are matrilineal in most of Micronesia.— February 15, 2013 3:15 p.m.
