What the Foie?
David is right about the physiological makeup of the duck. They don't have the gag reflex or breathing issues we would as humans associate with the way foie gras is created. The fact that people can't and won't understand this difference simply baffles me. An entire war has erupted over this and ended up on the Rick Amato show between a chef and opposer of the ban and a local attorney/city council candidate who supports an alleged terrorist organization known as ALF (Animal Liberation Front). The attorney published the chef's personal information, retrieved from the voter registration database (Not public domain and not to be used for the purposes of public harrassment) which is a crime. Can you believe that? What will happen when these people realize fruits and vegetables come from living, breathing organisms as well? Great article, Barb!— June 26, 2012 11:19 a.m.
