Am I the only one who not only does not find the new library building attractive but actually finds it disturbing? Whenever I see a picture of it I can not help but visualize the [Hiroshima Peace Memorial Dome][1], a ruin that stands right at the hypocenter of the atomic bomb explosion over that city on August 6, 1945, sixty-eight years ago yesterday. Oh well, maybe there is a moral about our city in that representation. San Diego future without water
What I don't get is all this hoo-haa about recycled water and the "toilet-to-tap" program. We have all been drinking recycled water all out lives. There is only so much water. What goes around comes around. I recently attended a lecture at which the speaker came to the dais, took a big drink of water and said, "That's some great tasting dinosaur piss!"— February 15, 2008 2:37 p.m.
Early Bird Gets the Duck
At the end of your review of Chez Loma in Coronado (Jan. 23, 2008), you said, "No serious vegetarian options." Well, I sent them an email asking: Read the review in this week's Reader and am looking forward to coming over. However, I have one small problem: my wife is a Vegan. (She's not a fanatic and will make exception for things like the cheese in the Caesar salad or the egg in the Creme Caramel.) The problem is the Entrée. What might you be able to do for her on a Tuesday evening? They responded: We do have a vegetarian option that we can cook, usually a risotto with grilled veggies, balsamic drizzle, goat cheese etc. We have served it to our vegetarians and they are fine with it.
