Loma Portal and Midway District during WWII - a walking tour
I read an article written by Scott Lewis of Voice of San Diego recently (January 2022) and he provided a link to this excellent writing. Thanks, 30 years later.— January 11, 2022 11:41 a.m.
Fed shovels money to Wall Street, not Main Street
The fed's policy of QE is effectively a tax on people with money in savings accounts, cds, and t-bonds. They get next to nothing while the Fed manipulates the bond market for Wall Street.— December 4, 2013 2:01 p.m.
Vista teen ordered to pay $105,703 for her admitted acts of vandalism
It will probably cost more than 50 bucks a month for the court system to check on her to see if she is making the payments.— August 27, 2013 3:21 p.m.
Escondido maintenance man loses home to foreclosure defrauders
Ugly covers are a Reader tradition. They probably were trying to make up for the nice one with the picture of Bill Tall that recently ran. This one sure did the trick--ugly and senseless.— July 3, 2012 6:35 a.m.
Joy Ride
"we tried to save these people money because we liked them" The reason you chose to sell to those people is that they offered you what you thought was the better deal: buying your stuff and allowing you a flexible move-out date. You were making a business deal, not making friends. Nothing wrong with that but don't act like you were being altruistic. They were sleazy but the real culprit in this story is your real estate agent who didn't get a deposit and a signed offer to buy. That it also took months to get the deal done sounds like the agent wasn't very good. Any decent agent would have told you to avoid contact with the buyers and let her/him do it. A good agent would never have allowed those jerks the opportunity to wiggle out of the deal without compensation or consequences.— July 28, 2011 1:37 p.m.

I don't know about Kathy but there certainly is a bit of bitch in PistolPete.— February 4, 2010 3:59 p.m.
