Bad service in San Diego
My husband and I wanted to go to Vagabond in South Park for dinner one Thursday night, so we called to see how busy they were — if we should make a reservation, etc. They asked what time we wanted to come in. We said "around 8:15." The guy got really huffy with us. "Ok, but you HAVE to be here *BY* 8:15. And you have to order no later than 8:40." We were being rushed out the door before we'd even step foot in it! We went to Smoking Goat instead, where we had a great meal without being given a hard time.— June 14, 2013 4:42 p.m.
south-park/holler -- South Park Holler
Hearing an owl almost every night around dusk. Sounds like it's coming from the eucalyptus grove in the canyon where Elm Street dead-ends into the trailhead at Bancroft. So cool!— February 25, 2013 12:28 p.m.
Paper, plastic, or reusable bags?
Sometimes plastic, cuz I have a dog.... But mostly canvas.— January 19, 2013 10:57 a.m.
Pat's Corner issued 30-day notice
I really, really want to be a fan of Pat's shop. But too often I've gone in there and found myself standing in what can only be described as a trash heap -- not funky thrift shop wares. The area around the cash register .... ugh. Tupperware containers and fast food bags from lunches past, piles of old papers and stuff that should've been thrown out a long time ago ... I always feel like I need to wash my hands after I've left. Can't say I'm surprised about the mold...but I'd be hard pressed to blame the property owner for it.— December 6, 2012 2:57 p.m.
Looking for wine ideas
Alexander Valley Cabernet. It's around $13 at Vons or Ralphs. Heavy on the oak, if you like that kind of thing. Which I do....— August 9, 2012 11:30 p.m.
MAD LIBS!

Golden Hill Residents Aren't MAD Anymore
Does this mean the assessment tax will be refunded to property owners?— September 22, 2011 4:19 p.m.

Example of businesses getting loot paid for by MAD-assessed resident property owners: Alchemy Resta
These benches and trash cans were going in long before MAD came along. South Park Action Council was funding them...maybe still is?— July 6, 2011 10:57 p.m.
Who Cares If La Mesa Post Office Closes?
Same thing happened with the South Park-Golden Hill post office recently. Residents got the closing date postponed but, ultimately, that location closed its doors. Major PIA to have to get on the 94 and drive all the way to Valencia Park to pick up a missed delivery. I don't understand why the postmaster gives a special bulk rate to all those grocery store mailers that clog up my mailbox, and then my recycling bin. Some days that's ALL that's in my mailbox. I hate to think the postman (er, post*person*) had to stop at my box to give me pointless mail I don't want and didn't ask for. Raise the rate on bulk mail!!!— May 12, 2011 5:01 p.m.
