Busy week at Sweetwater school district
She certainly has helped me by ignoring all the complaining teachers !— September 13, 2014 4:46 p.m.
Busy week at Sweetwater school district
Just what exactly are you trying to say, bystander? Are you sure you are a parent and not another old, disgruntled teacher? Perhaps we can tire you out with formal evaluations and our new DLT- intensive walkthrough evaluation form and get you to go on sick leave and retire early? You know, you should be thanking a principal who can bring your school accolades like "Distinguished School". Maybe the younger teachers can do your job better....they certainly cost less, and are much easier to boss around, and work with!— September 13, 2014 4:24 p.m.
Ed Brand’s time at Sweetwater is over
Well I think Dr. Brand was doing a great job. I hope they choose a no- nonsense principal like me to be superintendent. My friend Maria was a principal, and she got promoted, so I have a chance to get this district in order and clear out all the older teachers before they have a chance to retire. We need to get them all fired so we can hire younger, lower-paid teachers. I hope the new board sees how we can save money this way. Dr. Brand saw the value in implementing this plan and supported me. Good times ahead!— July 3, 2014 10:02 a.m.
Whoa, Vergara
I am vey pleased with the Vergara outcome, because as a principal I prefer to exert tighter control over my teachers. The older tenured teachers seem to think they know better than I do how to handle situations in their classrooms. I disagree. I would like to replace the veteran teachers with younger teachers who are more eager to respect my authority. Teachers with many years of experience tend to resent my leadership style, and I dislike them because they avoid me. I feel they should retire early and make room for newer ideas.— June 25, 2014 2:25 p.m.
No teachers’ union, no political agendas…
This is a dream! Why be a principal when you could be CEO of a charter school? Problem kids? Problem parents? Problem teachers? Just kick them out. No teachers union? Good riddance! Finally having ultimate control of all the money and ...well, having ultimate control to make all the decisions without having to consider anyone else. Here is something I do very well. These charter schools are the future!— May 2, 2014 9:09 p.m.
Quinones, Ricasa, Cartmill, Cabello weigh pleas vs. fighting
I was having a coffee with the parents during the school day. I like to have my parents for coffee while the teachers are teaching, so there is no interference from them. My view is the parents will NOT support teachers if they strike. The parents who come to my coffees don't care for the teachers, and they have plenty of concerns about certain union-active teachers. Dr. Brand is OUR SUPERINTENDENT. If he needs to make reductions in spending so our district can thrive SO BE IT. If teachers would just support the decisions made by the administration perhaps we wouldn't have to write so many pink slips. Teachers who would go on strike and leave kids at school without any supervision really shouldn't BE teachers, should they? Perhaps you should have become administrators? Sadly, you probably would not fit in the administrator arena either. You have to be a "people person" to make it here.— March 30, 2014 9:05 a.m.
Sweetwater district teachers vote on strike
Teachers, come down and smell your pink slips. You think your unión will save you when we issue the 300 pink slips we have been preparing? No talking to the students about your silly premature strike plans, you aren't allowed to. Those of you who DO speak of it in class will be the first to get pink- slipped. We have iPads to teach the students now, and we don't need you. We can pull you out like weeds if you don't respond well to our leadership. The media will make you all look like union buffoons. The parents will support us when we terminate you. Buh bye teachers!— March 13, 2014 10:44 p.m.
Sweetwater district meeting marked by chaos
Real leadership thrives in an office like that. I don't approve of personal, sentimental items on the desks of my secretaries. People coming should not feel warm and welcome because it invites chatter and laziness among the faculty. Sign in, get your mail and leave promptly. Go do your job.— February 22, 2014 12:27 p.m.
County board of education occupies Sweetwater
Bobby has been a no-nonsense powerhouse, putting smart aleck teachers right in their place. Believe me, he will be getting promoted. Me too! You teachers don't like us, but who needs friends when you have a good lawyer? You should be entering data in Jupiter Grades right now, teachers. You need to get off the internet before you get written up. So unprofessional!— February 11, 2014 12:39 p.m.
County board of education occupies Sweetwater
You teachers should not be commenting right now. You're supposed to be teaching. Turn your phones off. It matters not if it is your lunch break. Expect to be written up. You have been warned.— February 10, 2014 12:39 p.m.
