Booze Ban Driving Homeless Inland?
How hard is it to understand that booze ban (which by the way, is the best thing ever for the beach communities) caused the spike in crime because they were not arresting people or issuing citations last year at this time, therefore its a whole new metric that is invalid for comparison until next year, when there is historical data from which to compare. The important number is the decline in the number of "serious" crimes. In Pacific Beach, the beach is a much better place than it has been in years and the annual deterioration of behavior has finally stopped and actually appears to be getting better. The beaches are much less crowded, and that is a good thing because the people that have drinking as their #1 priority are not going to the beach. The people that want to go to the beach are there enjoying the beach without the alcoholics that have drinking as their #1 priority and use the beach as a place to engage in their vice.— June 30, 2008 10:41 a.m.
PB Police Prepare for Beach Booze Ban
everyone is a suspect...especially you paesan. If you are not doing anything wrong, you have noting to worry about. I had my cooler checked last weekend and I was more than happy to show them.— June 20, 2008 9:50 p.m.
PB Police Prepare for Beach Booze Ban
the beaches are empty this summer as compared to last...the Bars however, are packed during the day, more so than last year. The only conclusion that can be drawn from this is that the activity most desired is drinking. That is precicely why the ban needs to stay in place. If having a beer while enjoying the beach was the real story, the beach would be just as crowded, just with out alcohol. It is clear that the ban is working exactly as planned, to remove the people who just went there to drink. For those that now stay away from the beach because you can not drink, drinking is their first priority and it is spectacular that they no longer dominate the beach in PB.— June 20, 2008 2:42 p.m.
