Dog Photography

Well it's still up ha ha. I don't remember reading it when it came out. But I wanted to say a few things, with regards to pricing. Yes, Oh My Dog is "cheaper" for a session, though the prices start at a certain price. But being a location photographer, there's a lot of time involved. There's a pre-shoot consultation, then there's the session, which lasts two or more hours usually, then an in-home viewing of images and products, helping to choose the images...not to mention all that editing of the images (upwards of 500!) So it's not about a "good deal", it's about charging what your art is worth, what your time is worth, overhead, equipment, yadda yadda. Funny that people will drop several hundred on a pair of quality shoes or a purse, but balk at $200 for a session (which is actually fairly low). Think of what you're getting for your money, though. Memories. Beautiful, professional images showcasing the personality of the pet, and the relationship they share with their human. There are clients who spend a few thousand on images of their beloved pets. The value and treasure these images, especially when that pet has passed. You get what you pay for, usually. There's a whole lot of mediocre photographers out there who think they're geniuses.
