Faulconer chooses scandal-linked lobbyist
Well, this is no surprise. Mr. Jim Madaffer, former San Diego City Councilmember, and now a major Media mogul has just been elected to be Secretary of the San Diego County Water Authority, which controls water in San Diego county. Madaffer too now has a larger media relations group. : Madaffer Enterprises, Inc. | "Full-service government and public affairs, business consulting and communications firm." from website listing. http://www.catc.ca.gov/Commissioners/Madaffer_051… So he was/is a California Transportation Commissioner too! How many high positions and paychecks w/ influences can ex councilmember get?!! Hmmm. If you own a media company it looks like hand (shake) fulls! You mean to tell me there aren't more regular San Diegans that can help get things done in San Diego???— September 25, 2014 5:28 p.m.
Painful and suffering lawyers
LIKE: SafeZone(s) would be a very cheap program to get Vets slpg in vehicles in safe secure place overnight using current industrial/commercial St.s 8p-5a, w/ "military showers" & "footlockers" for helping homeless Vets! THEY DESERVE BETTER, We Already Paid for These ST.s!! Use them for the needy, rather than Ms. Faukners(Mayors' wife) {$200k annual salary} profit making business, which she uses many times FOR FREE!!! SHAME SD, SHAME!!!— June 13, 2014 8:21 a.m.
Opera: Campbells could get up to $3 million more
What is San Diego Opera??? Never seen, never been to, and don't really care. Am saddened that again the taxpayers, constituents & citizens are duped out of millions of dollar$ to help something that very few people care about, can afford to go see, even if they wished to! When are we going to use OUR city tax dollars to buy some rope and first tie up all these sill characters that keep pilfering our coffers, then re-use it to hang them by their kohunas and then, if they still aren't behaving soundly make it into a whip to keep them motivated to do the right thing. Crime is crime, and punishment is needed for these bad actors!! Including the "companies"/businesses that are involved in all this mis-appropriation(sp).— April 8, 2014 11 p.m.
Todd Gloria ordered to round up e-messages
Same old game, just new players. Judge (elected by small minority of voting public) let the council reps (again many times voted in by minority of voting public, especially during special elections like we recently had and will have again soon!). We, the people, of San Diego: taxpayers, constituents, voters, and citizens, are being abused again, how is this new??!!! Let's just see what happens w/ SDG&E gas rate go up, SoCal Edison screw us out of Nuclear plant shut down funds, and if we will even have 3 minutes to speak at council meeting(s) [2 mtg,s we get one chance to speak]. It really doesn't matter it is only OUR money~we the people (screwed), no longer believe in this sucky government and it's continued abuse by two majority parties that dictate what happens in non-partisan elections, positions and paid governmental staff! Keep Pray, because that is the only One that is listening. daniel beeman~human FreedomPleaseOrg— March 19, 2014 10:27 p.m.
City of San Diego to purge year-old emails
in the 1990's, during the Golding admin. I went to City Council Chambers & said, my hard drive (10 MEGABITS) isn't large enough to hold the adobe prog. I need to decifer [& what if prog. has virus?] the dockets & back up, why not put them in html /online readable text formats? The next year it was done, and a computer dept. employee gave me a better apple desktop (old from his garage) so that I could have space to put adobe, upgrade my "box";new plug--n-play style, when needed. The staff used to be helpful, now they just tell you "it is not my job, my boss says no, or can't help", while they go smoke for two hours, or chat w/ their co-workers for hours.-dMb— March 3, 2014 2:36 p.m.
City of San Diego to purge year-old emails
Barbarella, I hope you keep this is mind in writing your next piece. We ALL need public records from time to time, birth certs, marriage certs, etc. But important legal doc. should be shit canned after a few weeks??? What are they trying to hide? And most off all why do they want to keep records on us for many many decades? hmmm!???!— March 3, 2014 2:26 p.m.
More caution against city plan to purge emails
Also lets make sure that docket info. is available at council meeting/committee meetings, and that it not come out Fri.pm for a Monday/Tuesday docket. We the citizens like weekends too! It is shameful how quickly the bureaucrats set up a way to hide what is going on, and make laws so that we can't get the records to back up our questions of the government actions. Even as a PRESS employee I was continually denied records, copies, and back up materials: oh we ran out, in a warehouse off site, your denied access by so & so dept., the mayor (Sanders) even tried to personally keep me out of his office open house! They are so slimy, and want to always put off "open-record laws/legislation" COSTS TOO! much!, WHAT?!, it is our money and at least we would know where it is being spent, not some slush fund for wealthy donor, business buddies, and contractors!!— March 3, 2014 2:18 p.m.
Faulconer’s wife pitches street closing for event in June
No, it is about accountabliity Mr. Hudson. One group/person should not get exempt status over other, I've had a lot of push back from city hall to provide overnight parking to Vets in industrial/comm. area streets, but residential/comm. are okay. With the idea that they suggest they get funds, but truth being told they are not getting funds, and seem to be paying taxpayer dollars to provide services to benefit/profit business over taxpayer/constituent concerns! This is shameful! City is supposed to provide street safety & services, lighting on streets/parks etc, water & sewer, pollution controls, and public safety, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY ONEs GIVEN THAT DUTY BY VOTERS! My SafeZone(s) for homeless Vets sleeping in cars is getting so much push back it is unbelievable. Closing streets from 8pm - 5am should not be that difficult! It is happening now in many many communities, I'm just trying to make it legal, safe, and secure, while hoping to provide a lot of connectivity via volunteers for needed services and available benefits. Opps, they don't count, they are not profit making businesses!! They are not asking for lots for free benefit services, or city service, just constituents, citizens, neighbors needing help!! Michael Shames owes more than $100,000
Don, thanks so much for the update. It does seem like Mr. Shames, like former congressman & SD Mayor (& councilmember, Co. Supervisor?) Filner, also is having mental health issues. I believe this issue has been brewing for a long time. But because he doesn't, like Filner, did not have, a good strong alliance of good friends, the issue went undisclosed or treated. I do hope Mr. Filner is taking his medication and seeking counciling so that he can contribute to community again. I wish the same for Mr. Shames, he, like Filner were a good advocate for the constituents at one time. Hands out
Why do they pay some one so much off the bat? Why not have it a percentage re-compensation package?? 10% of the funds contributed! (received) Paying out money. oh yeah, our tax dollars, for huge garranteed salaries, seems like just another abuse of taxpayers funds. But because no one is elected, and only appointed/hired, there is no accountability. We as constituents, taxpayers, university attendees, and citizens deserve better!
