Spicy Banana Bread

Submitted by Spark

Not your typical banana bread. This one has a spicy kick that keeps the bread "warm" at all hours!

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbl baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp fresh ground cloves
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • ¼ cup butter (room temperature)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 bananas, mashed
  • powdered sugar
  • red chili pepper flakes

Mix all the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, cream together the sugar and butter, then add the two eggs. Alternately fold in the mashed bananas and sugar-butter-egg mixture into the dry ingredients. Pour into a prepared baking pan. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and red chili pepper flakes, to taste. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
