Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Founded in 1903, Scripps is one of the oldest and most prestigious marine and earth sciences research institutions in the world. The Scripps mission is to “seek, teach, and communicate scientific understanding of the oceans, atmosphere, Earth, and other planets for the benefit of society and the environment.”
Take a walk on campus, enjoy the view of downtown La Jolla, and enter a laboratory building to see science in action. Stroll on the Scripps Pier, otherwise closed to the public. Tours are offered every other Friday for free but registration is required.
