Kansas City Barbecue

The beef and pork ribs (or rib tips or chicken breast) are smoky, cooked over an oak-fueled fire, although some diners complain of toughness. Good happy-hour deals. Inexpensive to moderate.

Great decor, good location, okay food. If you are a Top Gun fan, you will appreciate the decor. This place is tiny, but it suits it. The juke box pumps out a good combination of oldies and goodies mixed with newer songs. As for the food, I have mixed reviews - the bbq beef ribs were dry, the rib tips were reasonable and the chicken was good. As for the sides, the fries are normal, the coleslaw has red/green peppers and is completely peppered (like salt and pepper) out, the corn is excellent (soft and drenched in butter), and the onion rings are phenomenal.

KCBBQ is reopened! Better than ever--they got a new smoker in the kitchen with the best hickory wood to smoke the meats--AWESOME--hasn't lost anything through the burn!

I stopped into KCBBQ for happy hour before a trip to the Padres game. Fun atmosphere, great happy hour prices and great bbq. I had 8 happy hour pork rib bones and they were awesome. The onion rings were also mouth watering. I think I'll stop there before every Padre game I go to.

We wet the the KCB for my birthday. We got horrible service. The waitress kept taping her pen on the table to hurry ups up. She never once came back to see if everything was alright. The table was not stocked properly. Two of the waitresses were saying something to each other in a Negatige manner. Our waitress did not come back once to see if everything was alright. And no there werever very few people outside. We weren't going to leave a tip, but I said at least leave a dollar. As we started to walk away a man said the waitress wanted to speak to my wife. So she thought something was not signed right. It turned out that she called her back to see why there was not tip. My wife explaied to here what she did wrong, because she did nothing right. The food...it was a 4 on the scale of one to ten. I had ribs my favorite. Sorry kcb you let me down:(
