With its tiny dining room and low lighting, American Voodoo gives University Heights another intimate dining space. The menu ($15-$20 for entrees) is based around Louisiana Creole cooking, though the food draws influences from all over the American South. Mary's fried chicken is the must-have dish. Sous vide cooking makes the meat moist and tender, but breading and frying late in the game gives it that familiar soul food crunch.
