San Diego Reader

This is a very cool old neon sign for the newly remodeled Rainbow Oaks Restaurant located at 4815 5th Street in Rainbow. This sign has been here ever since I was a little kid when we would drive north up the old 395 highway before the 15 freeway went through this part of town. The restaurant itself (which opened in 1949) and the menu were updated in April of 2009 and although I've yet to eat there, word in the blogosphere suggests that they feature terrific 50's diner style/steakhouse food. It's on my list of places I've always wanted to try, maybe next week I'll go!
