Ruth Newell 12:26 p.m., Nov. 30
St. John of Jerusalem Church behind the Walls. The church was mentioned in 1142 and delivered up to the Joannites in 1148. The Maltese cross or Amalfi cross of Christian warriors/Knights Hospitaller is eight-pointed. Each arm has two points. The cross represents eight knightly virtues, eight benedictions, and eight lands of origin/languages of the Maltese Order. Its four arms are a symbol of four virtues: faithfulness, honor, restraint, and circumspection. In 1992, the Joannites set up an oncology ambulatory care in Poznan.
