Point Loma (May 26, 2012) Flags grace headstones around the USS Bennington Monument at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery. The obelisk was placed to honor the more than 60 Sailors killed during a boiler explosion in San Diego Bay in 1906. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and volunteers placed flags on more than 67,000 headstones Saturday from 7:45 to 9:30 in preparation for the Memorial Day holiday.
