The Old Plank road is not to far from El Centro, CA. Just travel 45 miles or so and it's located just off Interstate 8, South of Buttercup Sand Dunes.

Son of a gun! There is still a trace of that road. Who'd a thunk it? For as long as I've known of the plank road, I'd wondered what it was like to travel on it. Pretty bumpy, very slow, and a real demand on one's patience. We sure have come a long way from that road as late as the 1920's to I-8 today.

Yes, there is still part of this road left off the I-8 near Buttercup in the Imperial County side. Just about a miles from the Buttercup Ranger Station. We have come a long way and traveled a long way since them old days.
