Johns Island, South Carolina - Angel Oak is thought to be one of the oldest living organisms east of the Mississippi and estimated to be in excess of 1,400 yrs old. While its height of 65 ft. might not be impressive, the shaded area covered by its foliage extends over 17,000 sq. ft. It is 9 ft. in diameter with one limb measuring in at 89 ft.
