Lucy Mary Renko December 26, 1948 - December 2, 2016 San Diego Lucy Mary (Waczek) Renko passed peacefully at home on December 2, 2016 with her beloved husband and family at her bedside. Lucy was diagnosed with GBM brain cancer on December 6, 2013 and fought the disease with dignity and grace for three years. Born December 26, 1948 in Dusseldorf Germany, her family immigrated to San Diego in 1950. Lucy was raised in a devout Hungarian Catholic home and attended twelve years of parochial school before graduating from Sacred Heart Academy in 1966. Known for her outgoing personality and love of life Lucy was loved by all who knew her.Lucy had a rewarding career in construction administration/accounting for over forty years with the last 24 years at Bradshaw Engineering Corp. Not only was she a loyal and committed employee, but she made lasting friendships and connections with her "work family."Her passions included taking long walks and entertaining with her husband, shopping at Steinmart, being an active member of the House of Hungary in Balboa Park and above all, spending time with her grandchildren. Lucy's kindness was boundless and her parties and holiday celebrations will be forever remembered for their elegance, formality and laughter.Lucy will be dearly missed by her husband Chris who devotedly cared for her throughout her illness, daughters Monica Stepanof (Tom), Lisa Reitz (Ron) and four grandchildren Elliott, Camille, Isabelle and Caroline. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Zsuzsa, siblings Zsuzsa, Frank, and Barbara and will be lovingly remembered by siblings Steven, Elizabeth, Margaret, Maria, Thomas and Laszlo.
