So does anyone have any updates on the flyers being posted all over Golden Hill about a rapist at large? I ask because I want to know if he's been apprehended yet and also to warn any females who might be unaware.

As far as I know he has not been caught yet. Please warn any women you know in this area to carry pepper spray, and to lock their doors and buildings well. I sleep with pepper spray, my mag light, and my dog. This guy is a super creeper, who sneaks in and attacks women while they are sleeping.

Not many people know that there's a secret canyon in Golden Hill. Don't tell anybody, but there's a breathtaking view on 23rd and A St. I've been walking through the path above it since I was a kid.

Well--at least local fauna know about the canyon--my husband and I saw one of the few raccoons we've seen in the area at 23rd and A, headed into the drainage ditch with baby in tow.

Probably along F Street. Same's happening on G and was happening on the bridges over the 5. I guess they finally got kicked out of Mission Bay.

Congratulations to Panchita's Bakery on C and 25th--celebrating its 30th anniversary this year! We have been buying bolillos, cochinos, empanadas de creme, and macaroons there for all of the nine years we've lived in Golden Hill.

New Russian restaurant open on Broadway! Nicest staff and and great authentic food. Counterpoint - fun as ever. Luigis makes a killer pizza pie (cash only). Panchitas panaderia - boleos and orejas are the best. Obviously I like my food. Oh! Influx - try the spicy vegan ;).

That cash-only thing at Luigi's is such a pain in the ass. Who carries cash anymore? Luigi's, three times in the last few weeks I've wanted to get a couple of slices and a beer only to realize I had no cash. So I ended up spending that money somewhere else. Please, join the 21st century.

I carry cash because credit and debit cards are crawling with fees and because it's easier to track my spending when I count out cash myself rather than just irresponsibly throwing everything on plastic and assuming it will be taken care of. As for Luigi's, their typical sale is probably less than 10 bucks, and businesses sometimes lose money running credit and debit on such small items. Also, they probably don't want to serve a customer and see their card declined, or they don't want people who use plastic for five-dollar purchases because that's kind of a sign of douchebaggery.
