I ask Loris, the owner of Café Paris (455 10th Avenue), why can't you put a bigger sign outside facing both ways, with maybe a neon French flag flying...that way we would know where you are."

"Well, I had thought about that," Loris says. He talks while he works. Like, it's not as if the place is starved for customers.

"Because I have been negotiating with the City for permission to make a bigger sign. Also, the other day I went online and ordered a giant French Tricouleur flag that I could fly out over the sidewalk. Seven feet by four feet! That way you could see it driving down Tenth Avenue."

Problem: Loris says when it came, it was seven by four all right...seven inches by four inches. "I didn't notice it had double quotes, not single quotes in the measurement." (From Monday's Reader).

Great view from my apartment, great restaurants, great trolley and bus service, and the ocean close by! There's a lot to enjoy about this neighborhood, and I hope we can keep all bad elements at bay.
