Looking for something new on your taste buds, check out new Vietnamese spot.

There is a new Vietnamese restaurant in town and they are quickly becoming a favorite. Pho Viet & Grill is located in the same complex as Fuddrucker's, UEI and Women's Fitness World, off 3rd Ave in west Chula Vista. Park in the structure behind the complex and then walk toward the center courtyard, where your efforts will surely be rewarded by their delicious food and warm, welcoming staff. Try the Shaken Beef (see photo), it consists of bite sized pieces of the most tender filet mignon in a slightly sweet garlic butter sauce sauteed with perfectly cooked onions and served with Jasmine steamed rice and a salad. This place is clean, the service is impeccable and the food is very fresh and high quality. They do not disappoint. They are there to serve you Mon-Fri 9 am-9 pm and Sat-Sun 10 am-8 pm. Please join the growing number of South Bay residents uniting to bring about change in local politics. Our community will be hosting the largest corruption trial in city and county history in 2014, At the heart of the issue are campaign donations. Currently several board members i.e. John McCann and board president Jim Cartmill are reluctant to put the issue of campaign donation limitations on the agenda. WHY? The answer can be found on the Registrar of Voters website, review for yourself the thousands upon thousands of dollars that were donated to their campaigns by companies and contractors given Prop O contracts.

If you're looking for a tasty bowl of pho here in Chula Vista, check out Pho Vietnam Express at 678 E. Street (619-427-2111). My husband had a pleasantly intense conversation about moving from Austin to San Diego with the owner, who was super friendly and welcoming. We were tired from the road, had caught colds on the long drive, and we were passing by with little hope of finding anything but fast food for dinner when we smelled this. We bought some of Pho Vietnam Express's tasty, reasonably-priced pho instead ($6.50 for an enormous soup with all the fixin's), and our faith in humanity was restored. Though Austinites warned us about SD's "overpriced" food, we offer this as our rebuttal; an inferior bowl of pho this size in Texas would have cost at least $11.50, and wouldn't have had half as tasty a broth. Lots of regulars were coming in and out, and everyone was greeted with a smile and left looking happy, so clearly we're not the only ones who dig this place. The only downside? They're closed on Sundays. Be sure to stock up the night before. Holler!

The neat thing about the BMX track at the Olympic Center is that there are actually three. The imitation Beijing track, the imitation London track and Tyler's new one. The Beijing track will have a race on May 18th and the London track will be used in September for the BMX World cup. http://www.sandiegoreader.com/news/20...

I mean, come on. It’s a gas station.

So how come I’m eating the most scrumptious swordfish taco I can remember, and right here?

This is Mariscos El Venado (3733 Main Street, Chula Vista, 619-476-80710), part of the Cali-Mart gas station.

Best Eats in Eastlake: Pho Convoy Noodle House. They're a somewhat small establishment, but truly nothing beats their chicken pho! http://phoconvoy.com
