Get the jazz week rolling with a free noontime concert featuring the Rob Thorsen Trio with Bobby Cressey on piano and Fernando Gomez on drums at the Lyceum Theater Horton Plaza (79 Broadway Circle) from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Tuesday 6
Catch the Sure Fire Soul Ensemble who look to be setting up a weekly residency at The Hideout (3519 El Cajon Boulevard) starting at 9:00 p.m. No cover charge.

Wednesday 7
Guitar virtuoso Julian Lage blows into town and lands at The Loft (911 Lyman Lane) at UCSD. General admission tickets are $18, reserved seats are $28 … Gilbert Castellanos presents the Young Lions Series at Croce’s Park West (2760 Fifth Avenue) this week featuring saxophonist Nathan Collins at 7:00 p.m. for a $5 cover. Castellanos plays the first set then heads over to the weekly jam session at Seven Grand (3054 University Avenue) where the fun begins at 9:00 p.m., no cover, musicians, bring your horns!
