July 25-27 | 4th Anniversary Extravaganza: Every year, Urge Gastropub goes big with its anniversary, starting with its celebratory burger, which weighs at least a pound and is piled high with exotic ingredients. Ditto the Scoville scale on its wings (this year’s will be dressed with Carolina Reaper peppers) and custom beers. Maui Brewing Co. is brewing its first sour, a Berliner weiss, for Urge, and Mother Earth Brew Co. is tossing in a special IPA. July 26 | Heroes Brew Craft Beer Festival: Not all of the costumed geeks will be found at San Diego Convention Center during Comic-Con. Art, sci-fi, counter-culture, and beer nerds alike will convene for this superhero-themed beer festival featuring more than 40 breweries, food trucks and a solar-powered stage manned by electro hip-hop act Vokab Kompany. | Embarcadero Park North, 500 Kettner Boulevard, Downtown, 4 p.m.

July 26 | San Diego Craft Beer Fest: Everybody enjoys a day spent watching and wagering on the ponies where the surf meets the turf. This Saturday, the Del Mar Fairgrounds will up the odds of a good time by playing host to a beer festival with more than 100 brews from over 40 brewing companies, all of which hail from America’s Finest City.
