The U.S. Office of Special Counsel is authorized to report violations such as wastes of funds reported by federal government whistleblowers.

In a letter to President Obama, on October 31, the office reported six cases of misuse of pay authority known as "administratively uncontrollable overtime." One of the six cases was at the asset forfeiture office at the Customs and Border Protection operation in San Ysidro.

Whistleblowers at that office report that Border Patrol agents routinely claim two hours of such overtime each day, but fail to perform the required duties or are not even present during the hours claimed.

Don, the abuses are Customs and Border Protection. That's customs agents, not border patrol agents. Border Patrol doesn't work out of San Ysidro. Customs works ports of entry and wears blue uniforms. Border Patrol works the fences away from the POEs and wears green uniforms.

Lucy: Here is the wording from the document put out by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel: "Two whistleblowers at the CBP [Customs and Border Protection] facility in San Ysidro, CA, allege that Border Patrol Agents at the Asset Forfeiture Office routinely claim two hours of AUO [Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime] each day, but fail to perform duties that qualify for AUO payments." The statement goes on to say that the employees at some times are not even present for the overtime they claim. Best, Don Bauder

Actually the Border Patrol has a large station in San Ysidro on Beyer Blvd. You can't miss it. They've got a sign and everything!

FatCatSegat: I think the statement by the U.S.. Office of Special Counsel should clear this up. Best, Don Bauder
