The American Association of Zoo Keepers hosts this fundraiser, where attendees can meet and greet animals from the San Diego Zoo and enjoy entertainment, dinner, and a presentation by conservationist and wildlife-champion Joan Embery. Guests will be seated with one keeper per table — from the San Diego Zoo, Safari Park, SeaWorld San Diego, or the California Wolf Center.

SAN DIEGO SCIENCE FESTIVAL’S EXPO DAY
At Petco Park you’ll find over 135 hands-on science activities and 12 stage performances for people of all ages, plus exhibits, research labs, representatives from universities and schools, and experiments by science, engineering, and technology organizations. All that and a concert by the Greater San Diego Community Orchestra.
It’s Comic-Con for anime and manga! There’s a lot to check out, including the dealers’ hall, artists’ alley, discussion panels, gaming, karaoke, a fashion show, and a model-building contest. Actor, producer, director, and stuntman Reuben Langdon is the guest of honor, with a performance by Steam Powered Giraffe.

Sociologist Gail Dines, who has spent more than 20 years researching and writing about the porn industry, discusses how men’s and women’s lives, sexuality, and relationships are shaped by the porn culture. She will also sign her book, Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality.

Mama’s Kitchen is asking men and women to “man up for mama” at this tournament-style “bar-Olympics” fundraiser, in which teams of two (male and female) move through three rounds of short, quick bar games (sans alcohol), capped with a taco-eating contest to decide the winners. Also raffles and music, all emceed by NBC San Diego’s Jodi Kodesh and Derek Togerson.
