POP THURSDAYS

See Emiko Omori’s documentary, Ed Hardy: Tattoo the World, at the Museum of Photographic Arts party, which will include tattoo demonstrations by Rob Benavides of Flying Panther Tattoo and music by DJ Rob Moran. The Roots Factory arts collective will offer T-shirt silk-screening, craft cocktails will be available, and you can view the museum’s current exhibition.

WINE, CHEESE, AND CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL

Decadent offerings from local chocolatiers, gourmet cheese shops, and wine purveyors have set up shop at the Spanish Village Art Center to benefit the Women’s History Museum. Take a break from the tasting to dance to live music and then go back for more.

SAN DIEGO OYSTERFEST

The festival features local bands Pepper and the Nervous Wreckords and oysters from British Columbia, California, and Mexico. Catch cooking demos by celebrity chefs, take part in the “Shuck and Suck” competition, and quench your thirst by choosing from a variety of beer, wine, and cocktail.

AMAZING HIGH-HEEL RACE SCAVENGER HUNT

Only in Hillcrest will you find a competition with rules that include “no hair pulling or wig snatching.” Teams don heels for this scavenger-hunt race to raise funds for the Hillcrest Beautification Project. Awards will be given for fiercest heel, biggest blister, most creative team attire, highest heel, and “a few more f*d-up awards.”

Grab a map (in either English or Spanish) and take part in the Discover Mingei Treasure Hunt, which guides participants around the museum to identify objects indicated by clues on the map. Complete the hunt, win a prize.
