Crime and Crime Again

An area of Solana Beach is experiencing a mini crime wave, prompting the sheriff’s department to go door-to-door, post flyers, and ask residents to be on the lookout for car burglars.

From February 1 to March 9, 31 vehicle break-ins and thefts occurred in an area roughly from Via de la Valle north to Lomas Santa Fe Drive, according to crime-analysis statistics obtained from the sheriff’s department website. In the previous two-month period, 15 similar crimes occurred.

Some residents have reported multiple incidents on a single street. The thefts are occurring at all hours of the day and different days of the week. According to residents, there have been increased sheriff patrols in the nighttime hours.
