On January 21 at about 9 p.m., sheriff's deputies arrested a resident of the San Pasqual Reservation after a traffic stop led to the discovery of numerous types of illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia that suggested sales of drugs.

The suspect, Lupe Vasquez, 47, was a parolee at large and the investigation developed sufficient information to obtain authorization from Vasquez's parole agent to conduct a search of his residence. Valley Center detectives recovered large amounts of jewelry, two loaded handguns, several knives, and additional controlled substances.

Vasquez was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on the narcotics and weapons charges and a parole hold. A second suspect, Gregory Pehoviak, 48, was also in possession of numerous controlled substances. He was booked into the Vista jail as well.

According to Sgt. Robert Niderostl (who provided information for this report), the investigation will continue.
