Is Republican mainstay and Chargers owner Alex Gus Spanos really making campaign contributions to liberal Democratic state attorney general Jerry Brown? That’s what it says on a campaign finance filing by Brown last week: a total of $10,000 on April 22 from an A.G. Spanos of Stockton, no occupation provided. Late last year the Spanos family announced that Alex had a form of progressive dementia and would have a diminished role in running the family enterprise.

Well, I guess that pesky "progressive dementia" explains Alex Spanos' contributions to Attorney General Jerry Brown. Maybe the condition provides him a rare clarity he's never had before as a card-carrying Republican.

Or maybe it proves it takes a mental disease to see Jerry Brown as an asset to society
