The Jewel Box
805 16th Street, Downtown
The Jewel Box is a little bar with a big future once the ballpark opens. So visit while it's still a neighborhood bar with great eats. And get there while they still have free shuffleboard. Shuffleboard? You're remembering shoving discs along the deck on your last QE2 cruise? Nah, this is bar-size. A long narrow table with polished wood, sawdust, and a heavy disk like an ice hockey puck. You slide them down the 22-foot ramp to get nearest a jack. It's also called various names: Knock Off, Horse Collar, and Crazy Eight. The great thing is anybody can play -- fit, fat, or 50.
