A one-time San Diego County sheriff explorer, Sohaila began bellydancing 25 years ago and turned professional in 1990. Her international appearances have included bookings in Paris, Greece, Syria, Dubai, Egypt, and Jordan. In 2001, she was nominated for the International Academy of Middle Eastern Dancing's Modern Egyptian Dancer Award. Back here at home, she teaches beginning and advanced students at her Escondido studio and other venues, she produces instructional videos with titles like "Bellyrobics" and "Belly Dancing for the Boudoir," and she performs at parties and local restaurants. And from her cyberspace souk, Sohaila sells camel-velvet women's costumes, men's head scarves, finger cymbals, Arabian knickknacks for the home, and more.
