"We all started off not knowing a thing about making beer," says Don Nelson. But he's an expert now, and for around $75, Nelson will set you up with a plastic fermenter, bucket, tubing, bottle filler, caps, a capper, hydrometer, and ingredients. Or, for around $250, you can get a keg kit so you won't have to bother bottling. Instructions and advice are free. You can even sample the beer you're trying to make at the store. The recipe's on the wall.
