Club Xanth's "Cathedral" is the place to go on Saturday nights for minor-chord melancholy. Recent DJ playlists have included "Hellraiser" (Suicide Commando), "Rock Is Dead" (Marilyn Manson), "So What" (Ministry), and a Revolting Cocks remix of the Die Krupps classic "Paradise Of Sin." Mosh pits containing 10 to 20 people sometimes spring up, but lose steam once participants realize their makeup is running. Lung polluters enjoy the new smoking section with wood fencing. Be sure to find parking on the street; if you park in the Vons or gas station lots, you will be towed.
