Rancho San Diego Emus
9966 Dolores Street, Suite 101, Spring Valley

Tastes like steak, has less cholesterol than turkey, and needs a lot less pasture to raise. Willi Seeger has 100 emus on his five-acre farm. Then there is his emu oil. Australian aborigines have been using it for millennia to treat burns, cuts, scarring, athlete's foot, hemorrhoids, joint inflammation, and even stretch marks. And the eggs? Taste like a chicken's. Great one-egg omelets! Bottom line on the steaks, says Seeger: overcook and you're eating leather. The meat sells at farmers' markets in Ocean Beach, Hillcrest, and Chula Vista.
