Why is it there are never any Vietnamese names in the obituary column printed in the San Diego Union?

According to the local Union of Pan Asian Communities, to find Vietnamese obituaries, read papers that serve the Vietnamese community. This situation will undoubtedly change in a generation or so, when recent Southeast Asian immigrants are more thoroughly integrated into the wider community. But for the moment, the older generations' ties are to their traditional language and religious groups. Why should the family pay for an obituary in the Union when the Vietnamese papers neatly reach those who need to know?
