Slam

A peddler of dope and poetry on the streets of Washington, D.C., combines with an inspirational writing teacher for reformist uplift. Barely presentable independent film, jumpy, jiggly, scrappy, sloppy. The show-stopping exhibitions of the rapper's art are communicative only in the vaguest of ways. Subtitles might have helped. With Saul Williams and Sonja Sohn; directed by Marc Levin. 1998.
