The Power of One 0.0 stars

Inspirational homily about an orphaned English boy in South Africa in the years before the official enactment of apartheid (1948). He believes precociously in integration; he teaches English to blacks; he writes subversive song lyrics in Zulu; and above all -- as this is a John (Rocky) Avildsen film -- he boxes. Despite the triumphs, despite the exit into the sunset, it's chiefly a feast of masochism, featuring literal illustrations of Piss On You and Eat Shit. With Stephen Dorff, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Morgan Freeman, and John Gielgud. 1992.
