Fletch
Investigative reporter I.M. Fletcher (with a byline of Jane Doe and a string of aliases stretching from Ted Nugent to Igor Stravinsky) is probing into the heavy drug traffic at the beach. He runs into some good luck when someone who turns out to be one of the principal traffickers approaches him with what at first seems to be an unrelated, if equally shady, proposition. Luck stays with him throughout. Gregory McDonald's fictional superhero, as adapted by Andrew Bergman and acted by Chevy Chase, out-wisecracks even such eminent wiseguys as Philip Marlowe and Sam Spade. Number of wisecracks per line of dialogue averages out to about 0.97; actual wittiness per wisecrack (allowing no bonus points for "funny" disguises) works out to something like 0.13.
