Fire Down Below

The simple-mindedness of the enterprise is pretty well symbolized by its taking of its title from a 1957 Robert Parrish masterpiece, without taking the double meaning at the same time. Steven Seagal, as an ecology cop on the trail of a toxic polluter, plops down his famous scowl, his famous whisper, his famous ponytail, and his famous James Fenimore Cooper outerwear, in alien Kentucky coal country, and the incongruity has at any rate the benefit of increased laughability. With Marg Helgenberger, Stephen Lang, Harry Dean Stanton, and Kris Kristofferson; directed by Felix Enriquez Alcalá. 1997.
