4th row center: The 'movie hole'

A chance to see how the Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström might have got tabbed to direct the American thriller, Derailed. This two-years-earlier film, set in the time of Charlie Parker, Buddy Holly, and James Dean, is not a thriller per se, but rather a brutalizer, the story of an abused teen who, to cure him of his proclivity for playground fights, is sent to a snooty boarding school self-policed by fascist bullies. Competently if laboriously handled, beneath a blanket of darkness. With Andreas Wilson, Henrik Lundstrom, Gustaf Skarsgard, and Linda Zilliacus. 2003.
