La Dolce Vita

Federico Fellini's diagnosis of what ails the modern world. It is not a short list. It is, rather, a long-winded discourse that sooner or later touches on nearly everyone's favorite vice. At least one of the subjects covered -- the Roman paparazzi -- is pinned down definitively. For the rest, this vulgar, energetic, and often over-extended movie is a handy summation of the moral laxities of the Jet Set Age. With Marcello Mastroianni, Anouk Aimee, and Anita Ekberg. 1960.
