Newman's Law

George Peppard's thick-tongued disgust seems well suited to the role of an Honest Cop at work in (needless to say) a Corrupt System. The plot is confusing in a teasing, not-uninteresting way; the action is vigorous; the District Attorney is a Kennedy lookalike; the gangsters are overconfident; the odds get steeper and steeper, and the hero's hole gets deeper and deeper. Directed by Richard Heffron. 1974.
