In Praise of Older Women

That this insipid sex comedy has run into censorship imbroglios in its native Canada and in Chicago (why on earth?) is a riper joke than any of those contained within the movie's borders. The chronicle of the sexual education of a young Hungarian immigrant has some pretensions, to be sure; but the concupiscent hero, seemingly lobotomized of any philosophical sense, is apt to put you in mind of early Bob Hope or Harpo Marx. Based on the novel by Stephen Vizinczey; with Tom Berenger, Karen Black, Susan Strasberg, Alexandra Stewart, and Helen Shaver; directed by George Kaczender. 1978.
